As a first generation student, Ashley has always been aware of how blessed she was to receive a proper education in America. From a very young age, her parents engraved in her the importance of education which led her to pursue a Masters Degree in Public and Nonprofit Administration from Rutgers University - Newark. She currently serves as a Center Director at one of La Casa de Don Pedro's Early Childhood Centers in Newark, NJ where she is able to serve a diverse community of children and families.
"The love and appreciation of my family’s Ecuadorian roots has influenced the passion I have to help and give back to children who are at a disadvantage of resources. PHL’s mission aligned with my values and the way in which I wanted to serve others. I believe that children, regardless of their ethnicity, background, age, color, etc. deserve the chance of a better life which is why becoming a part of PHL is and will always be an honor." - Ashley Vasquez-Ortiz
